Things everyday people do.

I was at the bank on Friday, I wanted to open an account. I'm now a big girl, abi? I was waiting on the queue to submit my Bvn application slip. There was this girl in a short lemon dress standing on the queue, she was using her eyes to roam round the bank, she looked confused. Suddenly, a plus sized woman burst in, with an air of authority, I thought she was an important staff or something because she made everyone freeze for some seconds. She walked to where the confused looking girl was and pulled her ear. The girl's face had shock and disbelief written in capital letters.  "Are there supposed to be two queues?" She hollered at the girl angrily.  The customer care providers continued staring at their computers furiously and acting like a scene wasn't playing out in front of them. One of them, whose plastic name tag read "Precious" finally looked up and said " please, those of you in the second queue, join the first, please, let this place be org...

Inspectors.

They came in uniform.  Yes, some governMent officials from the ministry of health came to inspect the school I teach in.  They gave a notice prior to their visit and extra efforts were made to make the school extra  neat. "Everybody come with nose mask" the head teacher had instructed a day to. They set their visit for 10:30am, break time. The kids were impatiently waiting for the so called inspectors to come so they can go and play and eat.  They arrived by 10:40am, with an air of importance and seriousness, like " if we find fault here ehn, makachukwu, we go close this school." Everybody remove nose mask from jaw, put am for nose." inspectors have arrived." The head teacher announced.  The so called inspectors no wear nose masks, first comma. Shey dem wan give us corona ni?  They checked every where oh, down to the toilets, everything was sparkly clean. They now started asking questions.  "How many toilets do you have here?" Head teacher eyes t...

👼 Do you know the people that make life easier? No? It's the funny folks. Funny people, people who laugh easily and those who believe in humour.  Life's really hard especially if you're in this Nigeria that doesn't have head. Everything on the news is bound to annoy you, but the cruise Nigerians catch with it eh! You'd even forget the main idea of the news. Just take a look at the ungun known men saga. I love funny people. Reason why, people in my circle are bags of humour. It's all laughs when we connect. Everyone already has issues and humour makes one forget for a while, at least.  I can forgive so many flaws of a person, just because they're funny, to be honest. I had to sit with this really annoying kid back in primary school, but this kid is funny as hell. Humour breeds love and calm, in a tensed situation, jokes can be used to break the ice. Awkward cases too. There are times when you do something embarrassing in front of others and that joke you cra...

Maybe I don't know.

Maybe that's okay. A song you should try listening to>>>> Maybe idk- Jon Bellion At this point in her life, she's decided to take life as it comes, enjoying the good moments, learning from the bad experiences and celebrating small wins like finishing a book and scoring a good mark in a test. She's decided to pamper herself after a long day by eating chocolates and ice cream, her mind, she tries to keep being positive by not bothering with the negative. You know why? Because she has come to discover that what will be, will be.  If something is destined for you, as long as you work towards it, it will surely come to you. If something isn't meant for you, no matter how hard you try, you reach a dead end! Nothing! She's always been the type to worry and ponder about tommorow making her forget to enjoy those little moments that are supposed to mean a lot. Moments when her parents look at her with pride, when her friends confide in her and entrust them with i...

Ikpako quarters.

Welcome to Ikpako quarters. Ikpako quarters is a compound made up of a total of five old fashioned houses, a church, a shop where electrical stuff is sold,a kiosk for provisions and a hairdressing salon. You see, it's like any other compound but the people in it are somewhat distinct. Located in a street in Delta state, it is the place to go if you want some doses of drama and comedy. Now, let me tell you about the amiable members of Ikpako quarters. The landlady- Mrs Ikpako is a lousy old woman that could make you go haywire with her words, she prides herself in being the owner of the houses and that her first son is abroad. "Na who on tap down?" " which person pikin do this nonsense?" " I will call my lawyer for you " These were her favourite phrases. You can't go a day in Ikpako compound without hearing these. She hated children playing in her compound and she didn't hesitate to 'discipline' them by flogging them. Th...

He typed lyk diz. She remembered chatting with him instead of actually reading. He called her " bby" or " hunny ". This made her feel all warm inside. " I have a boyfriend " Nkechi would brag to her lecture mates, they'd ask for a description and she would describe his  profile picture, proudly stating the fact that he snapped in front of a Mercedes Benz.  " have you met him" they'd ask, their voices filled with malice. " No, but he sends me airtime" she would grin from ear to ear. ( wf oluwa dollars only sent her 200 naira mtn twice). Her online romance ended the day oluwa dollarz uploaded a girl's picture , she was wearing a tight turtle neck crop-top and a short skirt, she was glowing with the iphone effect. Wf oluwa dollars captio...

I liked Toke, she was the life of the class, teachers' favourite, the Queen bee, I usually watched her from my seat at the back while in class, and from a secluded spot at the play ground. She was always laughing and smiling at the jokes her friends cracked; her eyes always twinkled and her laughter was loud and musical to the ears. I always looked for avenues to talk to Toke" borrow me your pencil" " lend me your note" "there's something in your hair" she'd smile at me and give me what I requested for. My day would be made, I'll smell the notes she gave me,they smelt like rose petals, like her. I never really spoke to Toke, apart from those small talks. I was shy and scared of rejection although she was never rude. There was something about her looks though, there were marks on her arms, you couldn't see it unless she folded up her sleeves, I got to see it one day. She was running around, sweaty but graceful. Her sleeves were up, ...
